I absolutely adored Thor when it came out. I bought it on DVD almost straight away and I did the same with Avengers Assemble (though it’s scratched, so I think I need to replace that copy now).
Certain scenes in this film reminded me of why I like tricksters in mythology so much. Loki was definitely my favourite character in this, though Thor came a very close second. When I watched the banter between the two brothers, I loved it. I thought it was captured very well in this film.
I actually saw the very first showing of this film in my local cinema. It was only the second time I actually stayed up to watch a midnight showing of a film and I think it was definitely worth watching it then.
It was really good to see Captain America have a cameo in this film. And it was really great to see the characters from the first Thor film, as well as the new ones who appeared. (Darcy was an amusing character as well).
Loki’s complex nature came across really well in this film. I think he could go both ways – a mischievous hero, or a villain with good qualities to him. One scene in particular has actually brought tears to my eyes each time I’ve seen it.
There was one specific plothole that I noticed in this film. I’m not going to say specifically what it was, but either there’s going to be a twist of some kind… or that particular part wasn’t thought through.
I personally recommend this film if you like superhero movies. I feel that Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are really good actors and they work really well together in this. I certainly hope there will be a Thor 3 on the horizon.
