I remember watching the first Dumb and Dumber film quite a long time ago and then I watched part of it again recently when it was broadcast on television.
There were some quite amusing moments in this film and I’ve always liked Jim Carrey as an actor. It was a pity there wasn’t any of his serious side shown, though, which has come through in many of his comedy films.
I didn’t think this film was as good as it could have been. There was a lot of toilet/easy humour in this and less that came from the characters and the situations they found themselves in. There were quite a few cringe-worthy moments in this, too, as well as some that I felt were a bit cruel.
It was amusing to see Penny and the sort of comments she came out with, but there wasn’t much of an explanation for that kind of personality/intelligence by the end.
There were quite a few actors I recognised in this film, apart from the two main ones. There wasn’t a lot of surprises in this – many things were shown in the film trailer. I did find myself laughing at some of the plot points… but there were a lot I did cringe at, too. Still, even though it’s not a film I would buy on DVD, it was still one I found quite entertaining to watch.
