Although this book did have one of my pet peeves (multiple first person POVs), I still found it really easy to read and I enjoyed the storyline and reading about the characters.
Unlike most multiple first person books, I found each of the main characters in this book to be really well-written and interesting. I particularly liked the relationship that formed between Toby and William and I would have liked to see more of them together.
The idea of shapeshifters isn’t a really unique one, but I felt that with the Veil and the links with the mythology, it was a much more unique take on the shapeshifter genre. Since I read a lot of Egyptian and Greek mythology-based books, I recognised a lot of the links that there were in this book.
I did like the slight hint of mystery that there was in this book. There were some surprises that happened and the descriptions were really good in the book… though there were some scenes that made me wince a bit.
It was interesting to see Circe in this book as well, though I can’t say I particularly liked her. I did like Enid, though… and Meryl, too.
I did get a bit confused with the constant flashbacks and I think it would have been good to have some sort of way to separate those, particularly since the tense kept changing. I also really struggled to understand some of the hunters. It would have been nice to see a bit more of their history and how everything continued to the present day.
I’d definitely be interested in reading a sequel to this book. I liked the characters and the plotline and it would be good to see more of Toby and William.
