I’ve seen a few dance movies now. I never really got into them before, but they work pretty well as feel-good films.
I think the dance movies all follow a similar formula, but of course, what makes it good are the characters and the dances.
I did enjoy this film. It did a good job of establishing quite a few of the characters. In some of the dance films, only one or two characters are developed properly. Not all of the dance crew were developed, but those that were came across really well. For the most part, I didn’t recognise the actors, with maybe one exception – but I felt they all brought the right amount of attitude to the role.
The dancing was really well done, both the ballet and the street dance. Carly was an interesting character who still managed to be likable despite her attitude.
If you like dance movies, I recommend this as one to watch.
