I think I liked this film better than the first one. There were quite a few bits kept in that I liked from the book and it was good to see equal time paid to the events before and during the arena.
It was nice to see Cinna (my favourite character) again, too, though the actor’s appearance had changed somewhat from the first film.
I felt that the special effects worked really well in this film. It came across really well how those in the Capitol just saw it all as a game, even though Effie was clearly at least starting to see them as people.
I felt that most of the actors really fit the roles of the characters they were portraying, especially Finnick and Johanna. The only one I wasn’t sure about was Beetee. The actor is fairly good, but I felt he didn’t quite pull off the right personality.
Although there were some things I would have liked to see in this film, on the whole, it was another faithful adaptation. In my opinion, this is really visually appearing and the arena works really well, as do the various costumes and the contrasts between different Districts.
