I originally saw Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Because I’d seen so much of her in that, I’ve never been that sure of how different I can see her when she appears in other things.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is a good actress, but in all of the things I’ve seen her in, I still see aspects of Buffy. Still, it’s not enough to ruin the film for me – and this was something that was particularly entertaining to watch.
As scary films go, this wasn’t really heavy on the creep factor. There were some nice surreal scenes and I did find it a bit confusing trying to guess what was real and what wasn’t.
There were a couple of jumpy moments in this, including a mirror scene. (Oddly enough, I didn’t react to that when I watched it in the cinema until the character reacted to it…)
The romance was somewhat confusing. I didn’t really find it a necessary point to the story – and the attraction didn’t seem entirely ‘real’ to me. I didn’t recognise any of the other actors, but none of them came across as ‘fake’ to me.
This is a more psychological horror and quite entertaining to watch, in my opinion. If you like these sorts of films, I would recommend it.
